Hi Guys,
     Welcome once more to the merry month of March and a diverse collection of new releases that will please at least some of our K&C collectors around the world.
     Let’s start at the beginning…  
 
 

1. BEING RELEASED THIS MONTH

A. Heading Towards Arnhem…’

It’s been quite a few years since King & Country released its last ‘Arnhem Jeep’ and it continues to be one of our most requested items.
And so, without further ado here it is…

 

MG095  ‘The Airborne Jeep & 6 Pdr. Anti-Tank Gun’ Now that’s quite a mouthful but this is quite a set!As you can see we have a brand-new sculpt of the classic, wartime Willys JEEP complete with two British paratroopers in the front driving seats backed up by another Para hitching a ride on the side of the vehicle. Eagle-eyed collectors can also see that this particular JEEP is also carrying ammunition boxes, an additional pair of Lee Enfield rifles and two small, loose backpacks (obviously belonging to the driver and his mate). Being towed behind this JEEP is another, much requested item – a British 6 Pounder Anti-Tank Gun.This is K&C’s third and latest version of this iconic Ordnance Quick-Firing 6 Pdr. Gun. Serving throughout the Second World War it was the primary anti-tank gun of both the British and United States armies (where it was classified as the 57mm gun) and was also used as the main armament for a number of Allied armoured fighting vehicles. Although designed before WWII it did not see action until the North African Campaign in April 1942. Just one month later it made its presence felt at the Battle of Gazala in Libya when these new 6-Pounder Guns destroyed every type of tank the enemy forces put up against them! Later in the Campaign 6-Pounder Guns accounted for the first German Tigers disabled in North Africa.As the war developed even better ammunition was supplied in the form of the ‘Armour Piercing Composite Round’ (APCR) and the ‘Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot’ (APDS) which became available by mid 1944. These new rounds were very effective against the thick frontal armour of both the Tiger 1 and Panther tanks.   OTHER OPERATORS In addition to the UK, US and other Commonwealth forces the 6-Pdr. Anti-Tank Gun was supplied to Free French Forces, the USSR and Brazil. Following WWⅡ the Israeli Defence Forces used the gun extensively as well as some armies in Africa and even Taiwan’s military. The gun remained in use with the British Army until 1960. ABOUT THIS SET      This K&C set comes in its own special full-colour ‘Presentation Box’ and makes a great centerpiece of any ARNHEM collection.

B. Flying The Colours’     

This slightly-late, but very welcome, addition to General George Washington’s Life Guard unit shows a young ensign carrying the General’s own standard or Headquarters Flag.
It was a mid blue silk banner with 13 white, six-pointed stars arranged in a 3-2-3-2-3 pattern.Used during the Revolutionary War to mark his presence, command post or marquee tent this flag is considered one of the earliest 13-star American flags.

C. ‘NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT’ (Latin) 
    ‘No One Assaults Me with Impunity’ (English translation)
       (Nobody Hits Me And Gets Away With It!) (Scottish alternative)

Above are the official and unofficial mottoes of one of Britain’s most famous regiments… ‘The Scots Guards’.
  Here are the two latest recruits to King & Country’s ‘CEREMONIAL’ Range of ‘Soldiers on Parade’.
These two figures are the first of five that together and in multiples can form the Pipes & Drums of the 1^st. Battalion, Scots Guards.


 

CE118  ‘Scots Guards Pipe Major’ This standing Pipe Major is the senior musical leader of the Regimental Pipes & Drums and acts as director, instructor and disciplinarian for the pipers.He is responsible for selecting pipe tunes, managing performances, training personnel and maintaining high standards of military discipline while also serving as a senior non-commissioned officer (SNCO) in combat support. Our K&C figure holds his bagpipes under his left arm as he listens to his pipers play.

CE119  ‘‘Scots Guards Piper’ Our standing-at-attention Bagpiper is wearing ‘No. 1 Dress Scots Guards Piper Uniform’ comprising the all-black Highland tunic complete with silver buttons in groups of three with white piping on collars, cuffs and shoulder wings. His tartan plaid and kilt are in ‘Royal Stewart’ pattern while his hosetops are in black and red with white military spats. On his head is the traditional ‘Feather Bonnet’, a type of military head dress used almost exclusively by the Scottish Highland infantry regiments of the British Army from about 1763 until 1914. Today only pipers and some drummers wear the ‘Feather Bonnet’ although drummers in the Scots Guards wear the equally traditional tall, black bearskin the same as all other officers and men of the Foot Guards regiments.

D. THE BRITISH NORMANDY MEMORIAL’

 

The British Normandy Memorial was officially opened on 6 June 2021 by His Majesty The King (then Prince of Wales) as Royal Patron of the Normandy Memorial Trust.
     The Memorial itself records the names of the 22,442 servicemen and women under British command who fell on D.Day and during the ongoing Battle of Normandy in the summer of 1944.
     Located on a hillside overlooking ‘GOLD BEACH’ the Memorial also includes the ‘Winston Churchill Centre’ where visitors can find more information and special momentoes that help fund the ongoing upkeep of this very unique location.
In 2025 King & Country was approached by a senior member of the Normandy Memorial Trust who was visiting Hong Kong to see whether we could supply their Winston Churchill Centre with suitable D.Day figures and fighting vehicles.
Fortunately for all concerned we were delighted to provide British infantry and armoured corps soldiers and vehicles for the centre.
At the same time we are currently working on producing an original rendition of the Memorial’s own larger-than-life size statues of three advancing British infantrymen in our own 1:30 scale.
In addition, we are also assembling a selection of our most popular British D.Day Infantry in the unit markings of the 50^th (Northumbrian) Infantry Division, one of the two British Divisions to land on Normandy on D.Day, 6 June 1944.


As part of our support for the Memorial they also requested that we reissue our own figure of Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery as he appeared in Normandy in the summer of 1944.

 

DD406  ‘Monty In Normandy’ Wearing his trademark ‘Two-Badged’ Beret and a warm Royal Air Force leather flight jerkin ‘Monty’ adopts one of his familiar poses somewhere in Normandy.

E.‘FIGHTING CHURCHMEN’

This last month (February) we introduced K&C’s first group of four warrior priests and now we are joining them with a fine figure of a mounted bishop fighting alongside three more of his own warrior priests.

 

MK249  ‘The Fighting Priest’ This particular mounted figure was inspired by William The Conqueror’s brother ‘Odo’ who held the title Bishop of Bayeux’ and was known to have fought alongside his famous brother at the Battle of Hastings and in other military campaigns.
MK253  ‘The Fighting Priest’      As the warrior priest moves forward he prepares to draw his sword.
MK254  ‘Crusader Priest Standard Bearer’       Advancing with the bishop’s banner held high.
MK255  ‘Crusader Priest of Lorraine’       This final ‘Warrior Priest’ strides forcefully forward, shield and sword in hand and ready for battle.
MK257  ‘‘Crusader Priest of Jerusalem”      This is an alternative version of MK255 wearing the ‘Jerusalem Cross’ or, ‘five-fold cross’, a prominent Christian symbol featuring a large central cross surrounded by four smaller Greek crosses.      This originated as the emblem of the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem and represents Christ and the four evangelists.

F.  WEHRMACHT REINFORCEMENTS

      Over the last few months we have introduced a number of ‘classic’ Wehrmacht Infantry in a range of fighting poses.
Now, we have three more that add some very helpful and extra machine gun support…


 

WH124  MG42 Gun Team This is something K&C has not done for many, many years… An MG42 Gun Group is set up in ‘fixed-firing mode’ complete with the special metal frame support for the machine gun and two ‘gunners’.
WH127 Lying Prone Wehrmacht Officer Stretched out on the ground this NCO observes the enemy through his binos.  Placed in front of him is another ‘classic’…  His MP40 ‘Schmeisser  Machine Pistol.
